Coating FAQ'sWhat is powder coating? Powder coating is an electro-static application of pigmented or clear compounds, in finely ground powder form to parts requiring protective coating. The powder is cured by heating or baking, resulting in a hard, durable, continuous coating. Why powder coat? Powder coating produces a high specification coating which is relatively hard, abrasion resistant (depending on the specification) and tough. Your choice of colors and finishes is almost limitless. Why wet coating instead of powder coating? For situations where the high temperatures involved in the Powder Coating process would be inappropriate, we offer a Wet Spraying process using a low bake oven process or Air Dry depending on the application. What about custom colors? Scientific Spray Finishes offers a wide variety of standard colors, and we can do custom color matching upon request. What System is best for my application? Powder and Wet coatings can be applied to a wide variety of materials, however, you need to work with experts in this field for the proper recommendations.
